Recently, the Cheyenne Police Department posted a photo on their social media account showing $234.94 they confiscated from a beggar allegedly arrested for public intoxication.

Meanwhile, the young man’s version of the story says that he was asking for some donations from passersby for his ailing mother.

The post incited diverse reactions from netizens. It angered some, while some justified the action of the Cheyenne Police Department.

One comment reads: ‘I’m sure you guys are going to take every dollar he had, and not give it back to him. The way I see it, the people gave it to him. That’s his money.’

In contrast to this, a man reasoned that the police arrested the beggar for public intoxication which is against the law. So, people shouldn't treat the police as if they were the bad people in this case.

Brushing off the negative criticisms, the Cheyenne Police Department expressed their appreciation of the people interested in this issue.
