How to Recycle Old Light Bulbs

Buying new light bulbs is something that all of us will eventually have to do. In most homes, light bulbs burn out and needs to be replaced in a regular basis. When millions of homes throw light bulbs this can create another environmental problem. Light bulbs contain toxic materials and when discarded in large quantities this can create potentially hazardous waste stream. Recycling bulbs can lessen the effect of light bulbs on the environment and as a result could save landfill space.

Bulbs can be made into vases that you can place on table or hang on your patio to add a feminine touch in your home.

Using needle-nose pliers gradually remove the connection at the base of the bulb. You need to break the black glass located at the base of the light bulb. Be very careful or you will end up breaking the bulb as well. Make sure that you wear glasses for safety purposes.

Once the black bulb is out of the way you can already remove the inner wirings on the bulb. Fill the inside of the bulb with water then place flowers. Create a steady base so the water won’t spill.

If you want to hang the vase just create tiny holes on the metal part and insert metal wires then hang.
