We are amazed at how chameleons are able to change from one color to another, thus blending with their environment. Aside from chameleons, other animals also possess similar abilities. In science, this is called mimicry.
A team of body paint artists led by Joerg Duesterwald used this natural phenomenon as a concept for a unique body paint project entitled ‘Metamorphosis’. His co-artists in the project were Laila Pregizer and Uwe Schmida. They also worked with a team of photographers to capture the amazing recreation of mimicry in a series of photographs. The same concept has actually lingered in the mind of photographers long before the project was initiated.
The goal was to showcase how the model disguised through body paint would blend in or become hidden in the natural landscapes during all four seasons. They searched excellent locations for the photoshoot, copied the colors of the landscape, and painted the model’s body on the spot.
When the creative process was done, the output is jaw-dropping in awe!
In some photos, it’s utterly difficult to find the model, while in some, it’s quite easy to do so.
Can you spot on the first picture above where the woman is?
