Farmer Plants Thousands Of Oak Trees to Honor Late Wife. Twenty Years Later, Aerial Photo Finds Secret
In this world's rampant cases of infidelity, we are always delighted every time we learn stories of genuine love growing stronger with years passing by. It gives us hope that someday, we too, can find real love. One that will stand the test of time.
Winston Howes treasured his great opportunity of finding great love and keeping it burning with his wife Janet for 33 years. The seemingly unending years of love and happiness unfortunately turned to mourning and loss when Janet suffered from heart failure in 1995. Death stole his beloved wife and he couldn't do anything about it. If only he could stop the enemy.
Nevertheless, instead of succumbing to grief, Winston thought of a way to honor and remember his dear wife. Asked for his son's assistance, they planted several thousand oak trees in a wide field. However, he left a space at the middle.
Later, a balloonist discovered the field's secret from the aerial view. The space that Winston left at the middle of the field looked like a heart-shaped hole. There, he placed a seat where he could sometimes retreat and reminisce their good times together.
“This was the most amazing sight I have ever seen from the sky. You can just imagine the love story”, balloonist Andy Collett said in an interview with Daily Mail.
The spectacular sight is in the countryside of Gloucestershire, England. Hidden from the road, the ‘heart' makes a peaceful escape for Winston whenever he feels sad.
“I sometimes go down there, just to sit and think about things. It is a lovely and lasting tribute to her which will be here for years,” he said.
Winston has truly dedicated his heart to Janet. Though she's gone long ago, the love he has for her remains the same.
