There was a small trend in the 1930s where quality furniture had a lot of multiple uses. So a bed would also be a couch, a shelf could rotate and reveal a drinks cabinet and so much more.
There's been a trend that we've noticed lately where lots of people in the DIY community are starting to enjoy similar ideas.
For example, this featured example, this rustic style desk that was made from follow-along DIY plans, features what appears to be just a desk/chest of drawers. When, in fact, only the middle section of the unit contains drawers. And to each side of this, each section opens out to reveal two chairs that pull out.
So what appeared to just be a desk with drawers, this unit actually has hidden features that the casual onlooker would not have known were there.
The drawers in the center are perfect for organizational and storage needs while the chairs on either side are perfect to sit at to work on your laptop or writing.
