Chew your food slowly and thoughtfully. Eating too fast causes you to swallow and gulp down unnecessary air. This unnecessary amount of air leads to bloating.
Drinking carbonated drinks trap gas in your belly so it's a good thing to stop drinking carbonated drinks and the likes. Instead, go for water infused with lemon, lime, or cucumber.
Too much salt is bad for anyone but when it comes to bloating, it's the worst of them all as it can lead to bloating. Eating more potassium-rich food such as a bananas, tomatoes, melons and the likes, may help though as it counters the side effects of salt.
Chewing gum leads to swallowing air which causes bloating. If the urge to chew is strong, try sucking on a candy instead.
Prevent bloating from happening but cutting down on too much salt and drinking a total of three liters of water per day to prevent water retention when cutting down or avoiding excess salt.
